I’m so flattered. I actually have a lot of thoughts about PD (shocking, right?) and plan to blog a bit about it before the end of the summer. Tolerance and equity are always hovering around the edges of what I do and are not made explicit often enough. I am not yet officially a mentor myself to anyone, but it’s another topic I have strong thoughts on given how much strong mentoring has shaped me as a teacher. So we’ll see what I get to!I’ve added a few ideas, along with suggestions for a dream team of tumblr educator/writers. Did the links in a hurry, sorry if they don’t all work, and I’m sure I left people off, so add away.
- Writing instruction (I’d be happy to volunteer; hithertokat, mollyrockstar, fortuneandglory, teachingtoday, allisonunsupervised)
- Common core (ohmuffins, teachingtoday, missescargotpudding, ditchingclass)
- Advocating for student (and our own) needs without sounding abrasive (GWALP, grayer, mskaaay)
- PD that works and is well organized (missescargotpudding, iamlittlei)
- CTA/unions (???)
- Community building (PPT, lhuddles, thinkbrit, heymissat)
- On the good side of TFA (we see a lot of the downsides, so it’d be nice to see what’s positive) (polygonal-lasso?, gritinthegap)
- more about SPED (jbizzle329, misseducation, gritinthegap)
- ESOL/ELL — monasequeda, allisonunsupervised
- vertical articulation (elementary, middle, and high school representing, wincherella, coloursinaflower, redheadchickenmama, talesofaneighthgradeteacher)
- Literature (dietcokeporfavor, me, hithertokat, theimprobablefiction, ditchingclass, fortuneandglory)
- Tolerance/equity issues (PPT, grayer, polygonal-lasso, GWALP, iamlittlei, hisnamewasbeanni)
- leadership (roughdrafts1, bethechangeyouwant)
- mentoring (iamlittlei, bethechangeyouwant, talesofaneigthgradeteacher)
- elementary school insights (amiteachingyet, PPT)
- technology in the classroom (gjmueller, kbconnected, revolutionizeed)
